Three ways to bring out the color in your photos

As a photographer, I know that a lot of people are looking for ways to bring out the color in their shots to make their digital photos pop. Here are a few tips along with sample shots.

Making color pop

1. Make use of the saturation effect

- Use your photo editing software’s saturation tools to increase the saturation for more vivid colors. Be careful not to go overboard though.

2. Utilize the dodge/burn tool

- Most likely, your chosen editing software will allow you to either burn (darken) or dodge (lighten) specific areas of your photo. This can really help with bringing out the color in skies and nature scenes as well as washed out clothing or body art.

3. Go with a spot color effect

- Here, you take out the color in a photo and essentially make it black and white with the exception of the area in which you want to showcase a specific color. This takes a little work but is well worth it. My e-book “Making Beauty Photography” has a deluxe edition with links to video tutorial on several of these techniques.

Beautiful piercings

As anyone who follows this blog knows…

I have quite an admiration for the art of body modification. And yes, it is indeed an art.

Of course, one way in which piercings are different from tattoos is the fact that they need not be permanent but still allow one to express themselves.

With that in mind, I just decided to post a few photos of beautiful, amazing piercing work for your viewing pleasure.

Enjoy.

Images of an alternative style

As you might know my now…

my of my photography work focuses on what you might call “goth pics.” Now while that can be a bit of an oversimplified take on the subject matter, it does hold some credibility.

When working with models, I tend to seek out those with various body modifications or just an alternative style like those who might consider themselves punk, emo or yes, even goth.

I think part of my reason for doing so it the unique factor models working in this genre seem to posses. So, I decided to include a few images that I have captured over tha last few years for your viewing pleasure.

The artistry of tattooing

While the word “tattoo” may not be the first thing you think of when discussing the topic of art, there is no doubt in my mind that a quality tattoo artist is truly that – an artist.

The detail an precision required to created a piece that will be forever imprinted on the canvas of a human body is surely an amazing, creative talent all to itself.

In fact, many tattooists have been educated in art schools and have engaged in other creative ventures like painting and traditional drawing.

Below you will se few examples of some fantastic artwork created by just a few of the countless geniuses that work in the industry.

Enjoy!
