So, where is your heartbeat?
Sew it to mine
You cannot leave
Or both will decline
Now, listen to you
Your soul is so cruel
You’re tearing me down
As I am your fool
So, when the night calls
For our final rest
Hold me closer
Tight to your chest.

Whether we like it or not, life is an ever evolving experience. And as a series of changes, it often evokes certain emotions.
Perhaps that’s why so many of the successful works of poetry are poems about life .
Sure people love to read poetic works about nature and mystery and all sort of other things but often the most intriguing focus on the human condition.
Think about it, what are your favorite poems?
If you’re a poetry fan like I am, I don’t have to tell you how difficult it can be to find good literature in such a small writing niche.
Whether your interest lies in classic styles of love poetry, prose focused on the magic of nature, poems about life or whatever else the case may be, here’s a cool listing of the top works from 2011.
As any fan of prose probably knows, there are several styles of poetry out there. If you’re a fan of poetry books of simply like to write yourself, you’ve probably at least heard of the term limerick.
So here’s the lesson of the day if you will.
A limerick is a poem that follows this simple pattern:
1. They contain five lines.
2. Lines 1,2 and 5 rhyme.
3. Lines 3, 4 rhyme.
I’ll leave you with a link to practical examples of poems about life, humor, culture and more that fit this style.
Those of us that write poetry, despite our different styles, probably all have one thing in common. We want our poetry to be read. And this being the case, many if not all of us, would love to be published.
While it can be pretty hard to jump right into writing poetry books, either due to the difficultly of getting a publisher or perhaps not having enough content to produce an entire volume, there are some alternatives.
If you write poems about life, one good option might be looking into the greeting card industry.
Companies that produce e-cards are always looking for content for their greetings and even the traditional card companies accept this type of work as well.
So, if you’re looking for a way to get your poetry out there, this may very well be a good start.
