AI Art, Good or Bad for the Artists?

Over the last few years, AI has continued to infiltrate more and more of our everyday lives. It’s no surprise that it has been making a mark on the arts. But, is this a good or bad thing?

I really think the answer depends on just how it is being used.

If AI is being utilized in the form of a tool to help artists with their craft, I am all for it. I don’t see much of a difference between this practice and using anything from a classic tool like a paintbrush to something more modern like photo editing software to help the artist bring out his or her vision.

On the other hand, if AI is actually creating the artwork itself with no real action or vision from the artist themselves, that not only is illegitimate but it also defeats the very purpose of art.

If art is not being created by a living, breathing being that experiences emotions and has a personal connection to the work, what’s the point?
